BENCHMARKS
Magor has a history of technical innovations for our clients, which have created originally unforeseen efficiencies in planned projects or enhancements to existing processes. Here are a few examples of solutions developed for companies who have partnered with Magor:
UMB: This is Magor's 'Universal Mold Base' of which there are several designs, allowing us to quickly produce product from a stack unit design similar to the proposed production stack at a significantly reduced lead time. This is hard tooling which can be used to produce thousands of pre-production parts as well as make the important size determinations for a larger cavitation production mold. When we do build the production mold, we have a very high degree of confidence it will reach production in a much shorter time frame, saving the cost of production mold adjustments and the time to make them.
Magor Gate: A Magor client had a product which only allowed gating in a specific location. At the time, none of the leading hot runner companies had a solution so we developed one utilizing an off-the-shelf standard probe design that we do not modify. We constructed a two-cavity prototype to prove our idea, which was a success; we also used this to size the product, and create a repeatable process which was then applied to large cavitation production molds. We were able to satisfy a critical requirement for our client and develop a solution which has been used again frequently with similar design products which were not previously direct gated and with a variety of materials.
Initial and Repeat Mold Success: We understand on a very high level what the challenges are to attain site acceptance for these demanding medical production molds and our batting average is above average for this accomplishment. We do the work up front—the tedious detail-oriented work—required to hit a home run every time. We do sample our molds, but not all of them. There are a host of repeat molds we have shipped that did not test at all and ran perfectly right out of the crate. None of these molds or their components ever had to come back for any fine tuning—that's what we do.
